Expectations of Swimmers
Swim Practice
- Regular attendance at practice- Swimmers should plan on
attending practice every time a practice is offered and missing occasionally
when conflicts arise. If your swimmer is going to be absent please try to contact
the Head Coach via email to let them know in advance.
- Punctuality- Swimmers are expected to be at workout on time every time. It is
very discourteous to teammates and coaches when swimmers arrive late to
workout and interrupt practice. If you know you are going to be late, please
contact your coaches prior to practice via email or phone.
- Shower before practice- All Civic Center members are required to shower before
getting into the pool. Coaches are asked to enforce this. As a team, we need to
be responsible and follow this policy. Showering prior to practice can help cut
down on chemical usage and help maintain a quality environment for everyone
in the pool area.
Essentials for practice
- Swimmers are responsible for making sure they have
their swim suit, goggles and cap for practice. It is a good idea to have an extra
pair of goggles and cap with you at all times. We encourage them to bring a
water bottle, along with a towel and items for showering after practice. The
Civic Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items. It is your responsibility to
secure your items in the locker room.
- Positive Behavior- Swimmers are expected to show respect for all of the
Civic Center staff, Coaching Staff and fellow members throughout the facility at all
times. Swimmers are expected to listen, follow direction and respect the
coaches during swim practices and at meets. Swimmers are also expected to
keep their hands to themselves during practice. Good team sportsmanship is
also expected of all swimmers at all times. Teasing, name calling and
unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
